Supersalone 2021, the special event of the Salone del Mobile Milano
After a long pause, from 5 to 10 September 2021, the most important international furniture and design exhibition returned to the pavilions of the Fiera di Milano-Rho with the Supersalone, the special event of the Salone del Mobile Milano curated by architect Stefano Boeri. This year's edition also attracted a large number of visitors to admire the novelties, innovative concepts and installations by Italian and international brands.
In these months of forced closure, the home has taken on a central role in everyone's lives and the roles of design and furnishing have become essential in creating new ways of living and redesigning both private and shared environments.
A Supersalone that succeeded beyond all expectations, characterised by great attention to sustainability and safety, bold and creative, with a special programme of business meetings, talks and other events, together with the protagonists of the contemporary cultural and creative scene. Its success was confirmed by the large number of visitors, with about 60 thousand visits, 50% of which from abroad, and about 90 thousand visitors following the event online. The original format of Supersalone2021 was able to unite, even in this particular moment, the fundamental elements of the Italian entrepreneurial fabric: design, innovation, quality, research, culture and food.
Cohesion, collaboration and the ability to create a system were the keys to this edition, which allowed the organisers to increase their business opportunities by offering a 360° experience to the public through the dedicated online platform. In addition, during the fair, visitors had the opportunity, through a QR code on display, to dialogue with the companies and get detailed information on the products.
The exhibiting companies presented the sector's innovations developed in recent months by creating completely demountable stands conceived as a single exhibition organised in a pathway developed also on vertical walls, made of 100% recycled and recyclable wood panels, in which the projects were presented as if they were works of art.
Some fashion houses, such as Hermès, Zara, Off-White, Bulgari, Dolce&Gabbana, Roberto Cavalli, Tod's, K-Way and many others, also made their debut in the world of furniture, with special collaborations and dedicated lines.
Together with the Supersalone, the Fuorisalone circuit of events could not be missed, attracting around 35.000 Italian and foreign visitors to the centre of Milan, with a calendar full of appointments to underline the desire to return to normality and continue networking within the world of design. Fuorisalone 2021 was characterised by exhibitions and events organised in new locations and in the historic Centro, Tortona and Brera Design Districts, which came back to life with "Forme dell'Abitare": exhibitions, discussions and debates on the new housing needs, an important consequence of the pandemic, which will continue to transform the spaces and identities of cities, pushing designers to develop new sustainable solutions to improve the environmental, territorial and social quality of life.
As every year, MEDIASTUDIO attended the event, confirming that it is always "special" and "unique". See you in April 2022.
